Cause and Profile pages new look

Posted May 04, 2012 by

The cause and profile pages now have a new look. Tell us what you think in the comments section here!

Here’s the cause:

And my profile!

Go to causes.com to find your new profile and causes and leave your comments here. Thanks for all that you do on Causes!

  • Dexter

Great job guys! I miss the share buttons however next to each action, as well as the big number which showed the number of action takers.

  • Sydney Fleischer

Thanks, Dexter! The share buttons and action number might be making a comeback, thanks so much for the feedback. If you ever need some help with your cause, let us know at support.causes.com.

  • Alejandro De La Cruz

    My profile is looking fresh!

  • http://ldesherl.blogspot.com Lisa DeSherlia

As the creator and leader of a new cause/petition campaign in which my goal is 1,000,000 signatures, I really miss the ability to send props and thanks to all my Causes members. These props and thanks really empower any cause and let us connect with members. Otherwise, the site is fine. I really think the props and thanks functionality needs to be brought back, or am I missing something?

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Thanks for the feedback Lisa, we recognize the importance of being able to thank your supporters and will have member recognition be a feature in the future. In the meantime you can click on the profile of one of your supporters and send them a Facebook message to thank them. Just click on the Facebook icon on their Causes profile page to be directed to their Facebook profile.

      • http://ldesherl.blogspot.com Lisa DeSherlia

Most of my new Members are not on my friends list and I have no way to thank them.

        • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Lisa, you can send up to 25 Facebook messages a day to those that are not your friends. Just click “Message” when on their Facebook profile.

  • http://www.alpha1.org.au Jenni Nankervis

Looking good. I miss being able to see new members and writing to them. Also when will Australian causes be able to received donations via Facebook?

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Jenni, when you click on the number of members on the right side of your cause page you’ll be taken to your members page. The photos of your members are listed in chronological order of when they joined your cause. While our improved recognition features are being developed, please feel free to visit the Facebook profile of your new members and send them a thank you message. You can do this by clicking on the photo of the member, and then clicking the Facebook icon on the top of their profile page.

Regarding fundraising for international organizations, we are unable to process these donations but you can always post a Note with a link to your organization’s donation webpage. You can feature the action as well so it’ll stay the top of the cause page.

      Thanks for the feedback!

  • http://FBCAUSES--stripsearch Lois Hamilton

I did not volunteer to be a leader on this cause page. Please remove me.
    Thanks,
    Lois Hamilton

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Lois, can you please file a support ticket with a link to the cause which you’re referring too? We’ll be more than happy to help you through our Help Desk. Thanks!

  • Sherna Benjamin

The interface is clean, looking real good thanks for all the hard work which you are doing to make our experience with causes better.

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

      Thanks Sherna!

  • Ellen Cloma Briones

    CONFUSING!

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Ellen, can you please elaborate on what’s confusing about the changes? If you’re having technical issues, please file a support ticket with our Help Desk and let us know.

  • clavelia arana del rosal

I love the new way my cause profile looks…..it´s fresh and clear to the viewer´s eye.
Thank you very much for letting us try to make a better world.
    Best regards,
    Clavelia Arana

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Clavelia, thanks for the feedback. And thank YOU for making the world a better place and for using Causes!

  • Steve

No matter how many times you “refresh” your layout, you are still missing the monies raised figure on each cause!

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Steve, currently the total dollars raised are only shown on Official Nonprofit Causes but I’ll pass your feedback to our Product Team. Please note that when you post a Give Action on your cause, the total dollars raised for that campaign are shown on the fundraising page.

  • SmiLink

I would prefer to see the members count where you show the # of actions.

I also consider the recruitment rankings a vital part of the Causes platform, I think you should reinstate it.

  • http://causes.com James Rogers

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Keep them coming! I’m compiling your information and sending them all to our Product Team.

  • Roger Hyde

Why fix what is not broken…..

  • http://ldesherl.blogspot.com Lisa DeSherlia

I must truthfully admit that as the new Causes creator of a cause set up to circulate my petition, that I am NOT happy with these new changes. I have trouble seeing the Members of my cuse and I can not send them thanks or props. Period. And when I tired to invite friends to my cause this morning, I kept getting the “Message “You have no new friends left to invite.” I don’t know what’s going on here but I hope these issues get fixed soon. Though you mean well in introducing these changes, I don’t see how they benefit thse of us who are tyring to use this site to make a difference.

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Lisa, the error “You have no new friends left to invite”, should have been fixed as of this morning. If you continue to see this error, please file a support ticket and let us know. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • http://tarlovdisease.populus.ch/ Claudine

    Great job..Miss the “share” button….

  • Sarah

I don’t like that I can no longer see the dollar amount of who has donated to my cause. Things also seem just a little bit harder to navigate.

  • Monique

I like it better than the old setup!

  • http://causes.com James Rogers

Thanks Roger, Claudine, Sarah, and Monique for your input!

  • victor ribeiro

Now I cannot open my cause, of which I am a leader, cannot see how many members I have got
Goodness gracious what have you done to the causes!

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Victor, please file a support ticket if you are having issues managing your cause once you login. You can still see how many members you have but the number has moved to the right hand side.

  • http://eastafricancenter.org Jen

The look is appealing, but the functionality is lacking. I wish it were just like a regular organization or public figure page as people would pay more attention to it then. And if it could operate that way, it’d be so much easier for everyone to use.

Also, our teachers in Kenya can not use the cause page but can use regular Facebook pages.

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Jen, thanks for your feedback. Anyone with a Facebook account should be able to take action on your cause page. If you are finding that your teachers are having difficultly please file a support ticket with a description of the error they’re having and we’ll be more than happy to help.

  • Zikhona Mene

The new look is lovely, it looks fresh and very encouraging. Thank you very much.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003406059686 Partha

My boyfriend and I just broke up after dantig for 6 months. I know it’s not the end of the world, but sometimes it feels like it!!!! It wasn’t a bad relationship. We didn’t sin sexually. We didn’t have lots of fights. We just figured out that we weren’t compatiable long term. Our lives were going to 2 different places. How do you handle break ups?

  • Sarah

It’s very sharp-looking! I’m just confused as to whether or not fundraising projects have gone away! Is this now the only forward-facing Cause page we’ll see?

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Sarah, you can still post a fundraiser on your cause. Just click “Post an Action” on your main cause page while logged in as the leader and select “Give Money”. Please check out our forums all about fundraising on Causes and learn more. Thanks for the input!

  • http://www.calilifeboxing.org The_Prophet

    Love the new updates!

  • http://www.causes.com/causes/426982 Laxmi Hall

I am not crazy about the new changes to the Causes page:( As the creator/founder of the above cause, I liked the old format since it was easy for members to make a donation right on the page itself. However, as the primary donor to the cause, I am not even able to make a donation since the new changes and I am afraid I can just forget about whatever small donations would be made by the member as there’s no “Donate” button on the page! I also don’t like the fact that I cannot see the total donations collected since its inception….I can only see my part:( Please educate me as to how these changes are better when there are no donations can be made to promote the purpose on my cause?

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Laxmi, you can still create a fundraiser on your page by posting a Give Action on your cause. To do this, just click “Post an Action” on your main cause page while logged in as the leader and select “Give Money”. If you’d like to see how much money has been raised for a particular fundraiser, just click on the Give Action to be sent to the fundraiser’s page. If you’d like to feature the fundraiser and keep it at the top of the page, just click the star icon when you roll over the fundraiser.

      • http://www.causes.com/causes/426982 Laxmi

Thank you but I still like the old format where the members can just contribute whenever they visit the page not when they are being asked as in the current format:( I know what my total contribution is but what is the best way to find out how much money my cause has raised since its inception?

  • David Dillon

I need more time to make my mind up as I have only just seen it.

  • http://www.abortioncarenetwork.org Peg Johnston

Although I like the bold fresh look, the functionality is difficult. We had important archival videos on the site (the point of the site) and we can’t find them. It used to generate a lot of donations and not anymore. It also seems that by highlighting how many people viewed it, that nothing is happening, when I tested it and the # did not register. Also, changing/adding administrators was a nightmare! And why only 25 emails at a time? The problem is that you pick out from the beginning of the alphabet and never get to the end.
Enough! Basta! Stop Sidewalk Bullying at Women’s Clinics

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Peg, thank you for your comments. You can view all of your posted actions (such as videos) by scrolling down to the bottom of your page, or going to “Manage My Cause” and taking a look at the Actions tab.

Re: 25 invitations at a time, this is due to a limitation with Facebook’s interface with applications. They currently only allow 25 invitations to be posted on friends’ Timelines at a time. This helps Facebook with controlling spam.

  • http://www.verena-weidner.wg.am Verena Weidner

Ich finde das ganze so eie es Jetzt ist sogar ansprechender als vorhin.

    many Thanks Verena

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

      Thank you Verena!

Awesome fresh look done by Facebook! Love you Facebook for your support!
    Amazing!
    Trisha Smith

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Trisha, thanks for sharing your action and for your feedback. The Causes Support Team thanks you for using Causes.com to create real world change!

  • Fabrizio

1-The look is great but small font and light gray is hard to read
    2-Need italian language
3-Our Cause has 690,000 members but only 200,000 emailed
4-I have never seen a notification to the news-feed on facebook, but other people see them …….. seems there is a facebook page with a different number (less) of members. A page that I can not find (only on iPhone….)
5-It has lost the preview (action or note)
Thank you very much for your attention

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Fabrizio, thanks for your comments!

Re: Your email count, this is due to a recent change to the way action emails are sent to increase open rates and click-throughs – helping you as an organizer achieve greater impact. Emails will now be sent to cause members who have joined or have clicked-through one email in the past 14 months, ensuring that only those who wish to receive the email will. New members of your cause will also have the option to accept or decline emails in the future.

Re: Newsfeeds, in order for your members to receive a newsfeed when you post an action they must first like your Cause. They can do this by clicking the “Like” button on the About page (click “See more” on the side bar below your description). In the near future, new members will have the option to accept/deny newsfeeds when they join your cause.

If you find any technical issues, please file a support ticket. Thanks again for your feedback!

  • Rob

Love the new look, however I am having technical difficulties everytime I try to post a note.

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Rob, thanks for the feedback! If you find any technical issues, please file a support ticket. We’re more than happy to help!

  • http://www.samuelmorrisfoundation.org.au Jo-ann Morris

As I run a Charity (www.samuelmorrisfoundation.org.au) I use the causes page all the time, it was interactive with followers and easy to get around on the site. Since FB changed the causes page it has turned out to be a waste of my time using it, its not interactive any more and you cant look at previous posts that is needed for our messages.
    Jo-ann XX

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Hi Jo-ann, thanks for the feedback. Please note that you can view all of your actions when you click “Manage My Cause” while logged in as the leader of your cause. In the action dashboard, you can view all of your previous posts and view statistics. Please go to support.causes.com to learn more.

  • Omar Rocha

I miss the “post a link” interface, where you can disseminate good information and at the same time write your comments on it.

    • http://causes.com James Rogers

Thanks Omar for the comment, I’ll let our Product Team know. If you have future feature requests, please go to our Causes Support Help Desk at support.causes.com and let us know what you think!

    10 Comments:

    Overall:
1- I like the new look

    Front Page:
2- I miss a big Donate Now! button in the top right area of the page
3- I miss the total amount donated to this cause
4- I miss the “All donations to this cause will go to…”
5- I miss the log and info of the organization the raised money goes to
6- Administrators should have the option of dis-enabling the “You and x people viewed this post”
7- The most active members of the cause should be visible and their actions: most money risen, most money donated, most friends joined the cause, sent most invitations…. etc.
8- The links to cause description and members should be also on a top menu

    Profile page
9- All info of the center of the page is not showing, only the info on the right side (Chrome and firefox browser)

    Suggestion
10- Please allow to display the page in different languages

    Thank You!!

I HATE IT ALL OF MY STUFF THAT i HAVE ON BOTH CAUSES THAT I STARTED ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That kind of stuff can’t be replaced because they are both causes in memory of 2 very important people to me and all the poems, pictures and posts and everything is now GONE!!!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!??????

I do not like it. Sometimes you just fix something that is not broke!!!! The old Cause Profile were better looking and the layout was better. You should quit trying to keep up and constantly changing. It just annoys people.

  • John Bolack

Love it. Want some more of it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.b.gates Lisa Gates

I am an admin of OUR Causes, I do not like this new format. (1) I cannot edit members w/o YOUR SAY SO, you have made it YOUR DECISION who stays in. We have our own set Rules Of Conduct which have a higher standard than your policy making. (2) Complaint, cannot edit the photo I just uploaded to crop it (3) Cannot view the entire page to see if our members have left a message that they need help.

  • Zela

I LOVE my new cause page. easier to read and very attractive. THANK YOU!

  • Liz

Honestly, I’m mystified and irritated by the constant changes. Each time I come back to the Cause, it seems you have a different layout I have to learn to navigate. I imagine non-administrators feel the same. I’ve lost the ability to track newcomers to the Cause and personally thank them. The last time I sent a time-sensitive petition it didn’t send to the email list. I don’t know how to track my success anymore – and the result is that a Cause that is personally dear to me and very important – gets totally shortchanged. Adding insult to injury, the new graphical layout of the home page has changed how the icon (a picture of my brother and his dates of birth and death) are viewed. It is cropped so that it is totally unclear now that he is now dead. I also miss being able to see how my Cause ranks in dollar donations and individuals joined by category. This was a great motivator for me as administrator and a helpful search tool for those looking for credible Causes to support. In short – you’re losing me, once I find an alternative. I’m in agreement that you’re fixing things are weren’t broken.

  • David

I don’t mind the new look but it not functional and I lost a growing membership of 75000 members and all my admins :(

    Love the new layout

    it’s okay

  • lawrence

i just love the new look, it’s amazing

  • http://www.facebook.com/petxpert Darlene Arden

I hate it. I preferred the original where I had the ability to do birthday and holiday fund-raising requests. This is just ugly and hard to navigate. Please fix it! Thanks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jan.deleeuw1 Jan de Leeuw

Now that my actions are leader status arerestored, I am fine with it.

  • Casimir2

I thought causes had been discontinued since I never her from any Causes anymore. Based on that experience, I’m guessing your “new look” is not so successful. Even the “donate Now” button is gone.

  • Liz Brooking

I’m extremely disappointed nobody addressed my comments before. But, in case anybody is listening… even my supporters can’t find the DONATE button. That’s ridiculous! Why isn’t prominently placed on EVERY PAGE? I agree with the comments of one person:

    Front Page:
2- I miss a big Donate Now! button in the top right area of the page
3- I miss the total amount donated to this cause
4- I miss the “All donations to this cause will go to…”
5- I miss the log and info of the organization the raised money goes to
7- The most active members of the cause should be visible and their actions: most money risen, most money donated, most friends joined the cause, sent most invitations…. etc.

  • Liz Brooking

Just posted a birthday wish but when people give, I get an email notification saying THANK SO&SO, but the hyperlink doesn’t take me ANYWHERE that allows me to do that!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/fcvestesdeesperanca Vestes de Esperança

I think that is a good thing to humanity this website, but I will stay very happy if some day I see this website translated to Portuguese, there is no one option to read in this website in another languages. When you invite some friend, to join in the cause, they can’t understand perfectly in the first second If they are from Brazil for example. Thank you for all that you have done to our planet!

  • Casimir2

That “You have a new look” pop-up is totally obnixious. I hope coming here to leave negative feedback makes it go away.

  • Casimir2

I swear, if that ridiculous “Leave Feedback” pop-up doesn’t go away, we’re shutting down our Causes page. Do you understand NOTHING about social media?

  • http://www.facebook.com/petxpert Darlene Arden

The more I see of this “new” version of Causes, the more I dislike it. We can no longer post birthday and Christmas wishes which were great fundraisers. We can’t get notifications when someone new joins. It’s just AWFUL. Please change it back!!!

  • Casimir2

The Leave Feedback popup is annoying.

  • http://www.facebook.com/being.raylb Ray-Kim Brown

    Looks fine to me.

  • Mihai-Robert Soran

    OK, but not helpful

  • nisha

It does not provide for anonimity of cause creator. powerful people or authorities will come after you if you create a cause which disturbs their illegal activty. We are afraid to create a cause.

  • http://www.facebook.com/petxpert Darlene Arden

This only gets WORSE. Someone in England tried to donate to The Marcia Polimer Abrams Fund for Canine Behavior Studies and it wouldn’t go through. That never happened before. Please fix this! No one can afford to lose donations because of your new “system.”

  • Unhappy bunny

I don’t like the changes and much preferred the old format which was much more user friendly in my humble opinion. Also, if that pop up

“Your cause has a new look! Please let us know what you think of the changes.” pops up again now I’ve actually posted feedback, I’ll SCREAM :((

  • keshab

not looking good if causes make blog type there is may blog site why people choose it make it different then other ..make it like website .every people can feel im using a super designed web pange not blog..thanks for ..

  • travis robinson

not a fan. stop asking everytime i refresh my causes’s page. thanks

  • Frank

Where did the birthday wish program go??? Nothing links to it anymore.

  • Fix it or kill it

You can’t possibly be this incompetent. I get a “New Lool, Leave Feedback” pop-up every time I go to the site. It’s been doing that for months. You must be consciously trying to kill Causes. Causes don’t even show up in FB anymore. Is anywhere there? Hellloooo!

  • Eilis

You have changed it so many times i cannot keep up wwith what i can and cannot do. Please add an “email to post function” function!

  • http://twitter.com/JKooyman Jack Kooyman

Ditto to most of the less than satisfied with changes comments. I especially would like to see the return of a more visible “Donate Now” button.

How have you used Causes to create an impact in your community?
