Engineers wanted: how our talent changes the world

Posted Aug 04, 2011 by

Causes is hiring engineers.

So is everyone else in Silicon Valley. Last week our team sat down and decided we needed to do more. Like so many other tech start-ups, Causes can’t seem to fill its engineering positions fast enough. It’s trendy to lure engineers with promises of free beer, taco trucks and ping pong tables and Causes is guilty of these and other goodies. But we realized that these perks aren’t what make us excited about working at Causes, so we did what we do best: we built something (causes.com/join-us).

We built this interactive page (yes, that means there are hidden treasures) to highlight the tough technical challenges our engineers face and the incredible impact they’ve had in such a short period of time. Though often associated with nonprofits, Causes is a start-up whose founders and backers line Tech’s hall of fame. Our engineers operate at a scale only seen by engineering teams 10x our size. When was the last time you had an impact on the world and had fun doing it? Click around causes.com/join-us and let Jeff, Greg and Kristján show you how.

Dear A Team, I was enticed by this promise “Here’s how Causes is trying to bring some laughter to the work we do.” However, clicking on Jeff and Kristjan’s links, and on the Apply Now button took me to a distinctly non interactive page with overlapping data and lots of not particularly laughter-inducing blank taupe space. Is this really what you intended your prospective programmers to see?

    In good cheer, A.T. Lynne
